Halloween finishes!

Happy to have some more finishes!

I spent the last 2 weeks getting some stitching done that I've wanted to do for a while now.  Turns out most of it was Halloween lol!

The 2 spiders are needlepoint, then finished into the spider forms. I'm so happy to have them done!

The table mat is a felted wool project. This was cut out and half-finished for a couple years.  I found it while going thru bags and decided it was time to finish it. Done!

BOO was stitched, then misplaced, then found at the right time...finishing mode time! And Surrender the Treats is a freebie from Hands On Design.  A quick stitch and finish this week.

United We Stand by Teresa Kogut.  In 2020 Teresa created 15 designs and designated the proceeds from pattern sales to some shops who order directly from her. Heart's Desire was drawn to receive proceeds from this pattern so I stitched this to show in the shop. I painted the backing piece navy blue and I really like it. The patterns are found on her ETSY site under #weloveourlns. Such an amazing thing for her and her husband to do to help lns's during the COVID-19 crisis.

Lizzie*Kate. Halloween kit. Finally got around to making a small pillow using black velvet as the backing. It's so cute,  and I'm So Happy to have all of these done! YAAAYYY!

CTA -Day 20

 Day 19 - fell asleep again ~sigh~

Day 20 - put stitches in. Took them out. Eyes really tired so too many errors. Will work on it in better light.  Plus neighbors having a very loud party. Doesn't help with concentration.  A few stitchea better than none.

CTA Day 18

Nuts. I missed day 17. Went out to dinner, got home and sat on the couch, fell asleep! As in, I woke up long enough to curl up, then woke up at 5:30am. Felt good, just missed my continuous stitching.

So now its day 18  and good progress was made. Sails and flag started. Yay!  Oh... day 18 is Wed. Sept. 23rd. I got caught up in stitching and so this post is after midnight.  Again. ;-P

CTA Day 11

I was watching a Fiber Talk video about 17th Century embroidery caskets (containers mostly made by young girls at a needlework school). Completely fascinating presentation by Trisha Nguyen of ThistleThreads!  This is my excuse for only getting a few stitches in today. But, some is better than none!

Jolly July 2020

I'm off to a good start on my 2020 Jolly July projects! My goal is to work on the projects I started last year and see what kind of progress I can make.
I'm starting with the ornament club from Crazy Annie's.  And... the first 3 days of July I have 3 finishes! YAY!
I also finished the first part of the Summer House Stitch Workes "Ladies Garden Journal ". This is Sweet William.  July is off to a good start!

Punchneedle fun

I love the Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher magazine!  So many fun projects for punching and stitching. I just got the Summer 2020 issue and had to dive into a project.  It offered a different challenge- punching on wool felt and a quick finishing idea, but the hummingbird is what really got me!  I grabbed floss, fabric and wool felt (which I have to finish another punchy project), and dove right in. Done in 3 days...yes, a miracle for me !
Hummingbird by Jeanne Happe of Two Old Crows. So fun!

May 31 Stitch Maynia

Here we are, the last day of May, so I'm posting the last of my Maynia finishes. I love punchneedle projects, but after the punching is done they end up on "the pile" like the crossstitch pieces. Much as I like finishing things now, I didn't always, so when I was done stitching something it went "on the pile".  After looking at these for a while and wishing they could be displayed,  getting in the finishing mode seemed like a good plan for Maynia. I did one a day for a few days then work/life took over, so i did a few over the weekends and made some really good progress.  I'm really happy to have these done and will be doing more in June. (Yup, lots still to do)
Here is a picture of the last finishes for May. Blue mitten is crossstitch,  the others are punchneedle. Done! YAY!

May 8 Stitch Maynia

A little out of order, but I thought I was missing something! I finished this little pincushion that has been stitched forever.  Done!
#stitchmaynia2020

May 21 Stitch Maynia

Weeelllll....guess I missed more days than I thought.  Working 2 jobs, had finishing for others to, adds up to several days of no finishing of my own things. But...I do have a finish today! This is a Dames of the Needle pattern, and she finished it like a lollypop with a stick. I chose to leave off the stick. I used a metal finishing form and added Lady Dot pompoms (color Jack) and rickrack (color Licorice). Fabric 32ct Confederate grey
I'm happy to have this done...finally!

Stitch Maynia May 5

I worked both jobs today so didn't have enough time for a sewing project.  I did a quick finish on a Mill Hill ornament.  I back the finished piece with sturdy paper then add a hangar using leftover beads. It usually works pretty well!

Stitch Maynia May 4

Day 4 - I finished a Homespun Elegance design into an ornament.  Since this has charms on it I'm sure it was one of her annual ornament designs, but I don't know what year. It was "on the pile" (pile of designs stitched but not finished).
The good news is it's done!

Stitchmaynia 2020. May 1

May 1
I thought about whether to join in on Mania this year. I don't want to start tons of new projects, so what to do? I've decided to work on all the finishing pieces I have laying around, begging to be a completed project. I don't have a list, just gonna work on whatever pops up next. So.... here's the kickoff!
This is the #bewellandstitch freebie from With Thy Needle and Thread. I stitched it on 40 count gauze using the threads as designed.  The frame was found at a now-closed stitch shop and has been waiting for the right design, and this is it. I love the way it turned out!

Covid-19 2020

COVID-19 hit in March. Yesterday, April 30th, Governor Kelly laid out the plan for Kansas to start opening up.  We're on our way back to opening up! YAY!
